Dr. Richard H Huggins is a Dermatology Specialist in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated with honors from Univ Of Med & Dentistry Of NJ, NJ Dental School in 2006. Having more than 11 years of diverse experiences, especially in DERMATOLOGY, Dr. Richard H Huggins affiliates with Henry Ford Hospital, and cooperates with other doctors and specialists in medical group Henry Ford Health System. Dr. Huggins along with Lee Thomas leads the V-Strong support group organizing bi-monthly meetings, provides research updates, and plans signature group outings and activities.
Kimberly Boyd, MBA
Diagnosed with Segmental Vitiligo in 2013 Kim was reluctant to join the support group at first but was warmly welcomed and became involved with group activities. Kim joined the leadership team and began planning group activities, managing social media, coordinating group outings, and eventually as the chairperson of World Vitiligo Day Detroit 2017 organized an event that brought 200 dermatologists, vitiligo patients, and friends to Southfield MI for the festivities.
Diagnosed almost 10 years ago, Michelle has been an active member of V-Strong coordinating movie day, World Vitiligo Day, and working in the community to spread awareness. Michelle has traveled to other cities to meet up with others in our expanded vitiligo community. Michelle is a hands-on and get -it- done type of person and will tell her vitiligo story wherever she goes.
Dr. Bhavnit Bhatia,Bhavnit
(nickname: Nita) Bhatia is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area and is currently completing her dermatology residency at Henry Ford. Dr. Nita has a special interest in pigmentary disorders and how skin conditions affect quality of life, and is passionate about doing patient-centered research in these topics. She also has a unique perspective, as she has had vitiligo herself since the age of 7. She joined the leadership team of V-Strong in 2017.
Lee Thomas Jr.
Lee is a broadcaster, author and motivational speaker that travels the world sharing his story of personal change. Lee is the author of Turning White and the founder of the SE MI Vitiligo Support Group known as V-Strong. Lee also founded the non-profit (501c3) foundation, ClarityLTF (Lee Thomas Jr. Foundation); ClarityLTF powers (funds) V-Strong to support community events and raise awareness for Vitiligo.
Lori (in the middle) balances a busy home and work life, raising her 8-year-old twins (she also has an older son, 22, and daughter, 17) and teaching middle school students in the Detroit Public Schools. And she uses the opportunity in the classroom to educate her students about vitiligo.
